Due to Harvest Moon having no real character development, I'll be apping Amir as a canon OC for convenience of the mods and myself writing the app.
CHARACTER
Character Name: Prince Amir Ranjit Raj Singh
Canon: Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar and Harvest Moon: A New Beginning
Age: 16 in Grand Bazaar, 18 in A New Beginning
Timeline: A few seasons after moving into town in A New Beginning.
Personality:
Amir, as a prince of "A Foreign Land," is very naive. He doesn't know much about the real world, despite having lived by himself in Grand Bazaar and only having a servant with him in A New Beginning. Even if the Main Character of either game marries him, he doesn't do much beyond walk around your house and land and talk about petting animals and what you're going to make for dinner. In A New Beginning he upgrades his skill a little by cooking you dinner but laments that he might terrible at it considering Sanjay (or the grandma at the inn in Grand Bazaar) cooked everything for him prior to living with you. Most of his lines consist of asking about random, simple things, like wondering if he could become a bee keeper or questioning festivals he's never attended to. He's sometimes found wandering around the forest in A New Beginning and says he likes scavenging for bugs even when Sanjay tells him to avoid them. He thinks of himself as a bit of a badass, even if the only weapons he's ever touched are the decorative swords in his house that he likes to "practice" with (and Sanjay mentions that they are not sharpened.) In these ways, Amir is extremely naive and ignorant to the world around him due to his upbringing.
He is also very spoiled, thinking of others as his way to gaining items and giving very little in return. When he comes to the Main Character's stall in Grand Bazaar he mentions that what they're selling is to his liking even if he doesn't know what it is. In A New Beginning his spoiled personality is even more apparent even if he's a bit older. With his servant Sanjay with him, Amir is catered to at every point imaginable-- Sanjay even comes to visit him if the Main Character marries Amir and if the Main Character marries Sanjay, Sanjay will come back to Amir's home to clean and cook for him during the day. The other babies and spoils him, making him his favorite meals and keeping him in line as best he can. One example of this is when they're at the bug catching festival and Amir tells the Main Character he'd like to become a bee keeper and catch bugs, which Sanjay hates. Even after his telling off by his nanny/servant, Amir is determined to become the bee master. He doesn't take "no" very well for an answer, and keeps all of this up even if he's the one the Main Character chooses to marry.
That's not to say, however, that Amir is unhelpful or unkind. In Grand Bazaar, if you trigger a Random Event in the hotel that Amir is staying at you will see him helping Stuart retrieving an item on a tall shelf, helping Ethel carry her groceries into the kitchen, and helping Daisy with a problem calculating the register. He does all of these things after offering his help prior instead of being asked, and does them all without complaining. In A New Beginning one of his Random Events is triggered when you find him and Neil in the restaurant contemplating what they want to eat. Amir is unfamiliar with the "foreign" menu and picks something he's tried before despite it not being the cooking he's used to. He ends up liking it (though he mentions Sajay's is spicier,) and says he'll try new things next time, and offers to go with Neil again sometime. When he's finished with his chores he's exhasperated but content with himself, that he helped, and when he's finished with his lunch with Neil he's so happy that he's ready to try more things the world had to offer. This is another example of his naivety but I like to think it shows how nice and kind he can be.
History:
Amir was born the second son of the sultan of "A Foreign Land," though many speculate this to be India considering the clothing he, Sanjay, and Olivia wear in canon. Where Amir and Olivia are not Hindu names, Sanjay is, and it goes along with the idea that Japan has-- any "Indian prince" in any Japanese canon is likely to have dark brown skin and white hair. We don't know why, it's just a thing. Because of this, many of my headcanons surrounding Amir are considering the fact he would be Hindu. Amir has two sisters, one older than him and one younger, and growing up he was spoiled heavily for being his father's only son. When he was young, his servant and caretaker Sanjay came to the palace to work and due to his father being away for a long time and Sanjay being a bit older than he is Amir took to following him around and leaning on him when he had no other male influence. He was closer to his older sister than his mother as well, and thinks of her highly. Because Amir only had those his age close to him as a child, along with many nurses and nannies who were unable to question him, Amir grew to have less respect for adults and other authority figures. Amir spent most of his young life playing and being tutored, learning instruments and diplomacy as any prince should, but was kept from anything dangerous such as fighting or hunting. Because of this Amir is very well read and has read of many places, but he's never been to any of them. He has textbook knowledge of loads of things but is extremely naive of most things in real life. Amir's little sister is much younger than him, only three or four, and his text implies that he likes to spoil and baby her a lot.
Growing up with Sanjay at his side cause Amir to become very clingy to him, but when he decided to leave home the first time during the events of Grand Bazaar, Amir went by himself. This was because he was determined to live on his own while seeing the world to inform his country of new things. Though he is only twelfth in line to the throne, Amir is very adamant about helping his country's prosperity. He comes to the town in Grand Bazaar to learn about many things concerning trade and wealth, as in the town's hay day those were the things it was well known for. Amir stays in the town's inn and helps the old couple who own it out day to day when he isn't wandering around town looking at the windmills and buildings. Most of the time he's found at the inn, but sometimes he wanders around the Main Characters farm and asks about the animals he or she takes care of. In the fall season, Amir returns to his home country for his father's birthday and returns at the start of the winter seasons. If the Main Character marries him, he stays all year round.
After Grand Bazaar, Amir makes another appearance in Harvest Moon: A New Beginning as a bachelor yet again. This time he is accompanied by his servant Sanjay and they live together in the Exotic Mansion the Main Character builds for them. Again, Amir is only in town for winter, spring, and summer seasons, returning in fall season for his father's birthday. When they move in winter 1 (or whatever winter season the Main Character has their house built by,) Amir is ecstatic to meet the Main Character who has built their lovely house and the town itself as well. He's also very interested in farming and in the town's mine, but most of the time he's found wandering around the forest or in his home. He explains Sanjay being there only to help clean and cook in the home, not because Amir needs him to survive. He's disproven most of the time by Sanjay having to help him with tasks or answering questions about their surroundings. He also listens to his scolding only to lament about his nagging to the Main Character later. At some point in time during their stay in the town, Sanjay teaches Amir how to cook an egg (and he's since been banned from the kitchen entirely,) and the prince takes up practicing his "swordsmanship" with his decorative swords until Sanjay stops him from swinging them around dangerously. He also has to ask the Main Character what he should send his little sister as a "souvenir" from their new home, deciding on a ore stone pendant he mined himself.
When the Main Character completes the town and renames it from Echo Town to whatever they prefer, Amir and Sanjay continue to live happily in the town as long as the game is played, with no intention of leaving.
Abilities:
Amir literally has no skills or abilities at all. He would be a freeloader if he wasn't a rich spoiled prince-sama. He has decorative swords he likes swinging around but he'd probably just hurt himself if he had to actually use them. He can, however, play a variety of Indian instruments.
Relationships to Canon Characters:
Main Character:
Stuart, Ethel, Daisy:
